Chris Boudreaux joined Manomet in April 2017 as our Donor Relations Manager. He is responsible for planning and implementing direct mail and online fundraising campaigns to increase support for Manomet’s mission-driven work, designing and managing events to cultivate and steward donors and prospects, and donor communications. He brings almost a decade of experience in nonprofit development and communications to Manomet.

Why did you want to work with Manomet?

 

First and foremost, I was drawn to Manomet’s mission and the incredible work they’re doing to build a more sustainable world. But what really impressed me about Manomet is their approach to effecting change. Manomet leads with relationships. They engage people working in critical life-supporting systems, establish trust, and then work with them to implement science-based, practical solutions that make these systems more sustainable. Relationships, then science. That’s really unique, and I think that’s what makes Manomet so effective.

 

What do you like most about your job?

Whenever someone makes a contribution to Manomet, I get to call and personally thank them for their gift. I think this is my favorite part of the job because donors will often share with me their own stories about how they became involved with Manomet, why they support us, and what’s important to them. I especially love calling first-time donors!

 

Chris, you just went on your first birding trip last week to Newton Cemetery.  What did you think?

 

I had a wonderful time, and I can’t wait to go on another trip! I can see why so many folks have a passion for birding. I think what made it really enjoyable was having seasoned guides like Manomet’s Trevor Lloyd-Evans and Evan Dalton on hand. They were able to provide interesting insights into what we were seeing, which made for a really fun learning experience.

 

What’s your favorite season?

 

Autumn, hands down. A chill in the air, brilliantly colored leaves, football, and postseason baseball. It doesn’t get any better than that.

 

Where’s your favorite place to visit in New England?

 

I love the White Mountains in New Hampshire. My wife and I visit as often as we can.

 

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?

 

A Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Toole. This Pulitzer Prize-winning novel is a real treasure, and it’s the only book I’ve ever read that had me in fits of laughter from cover to cover. It also captures the unique character of New Orleans better than any other work of fiction. As a native of south Louisiana, this book is a little slice of home.

 

Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University and a Master of Science from Suffolk University. He enjoys photography, history, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his wife and two dogs.
