On August 15, 2019, as the fall banding season officially opened and mist nets began to sprout up around Manomet’s property, we kicked off a special fundraising campaign to celebrate our 50th anniversary and a half-century of working to make the world a better place.
Our goal was to raise $50,000 in 50 hours for our 50th—an ambitious goal to be sure, but a milestone as big as #50 deserves an equally big challenge. And thanks to two generous donors, every gift was being matched until we reached $50,000.
So we appealed to Manomet donors past and present, friends on social media, friends of friends, and those who’ve just recently been introduced to our work. We asked everyone to come together to support the $50k for Our 50th Campaign and help Manomet build a better, more sustainable world for another half-century.
The response was overwhelming…and inspiring!
We met our $50,000 fundraising goal and exhausted our matching gift on the very first day of the campaign. But it was far from over. Folks continued to contribute during the remainder of the campaign’s 50hours. They wanted to be part of something special!
By the end of our campaign, roughly 200 donors representing 29 states and Canada had donated $78,024 to Manomet’s Annual Fund … $28,000 more than our original goal!
