Manomet and Wildlands Trust invite you to join us to get out into nature this winter and early spring!  We’ll be searching for owls and animal tracks in February.  Come March, we’ll take a moonlight walk to look for woodcock and the first signs of spring. Manomet’s Evan Dalton, Lead Instructor, Landbird Conservation, will be leading the walks; please dress warmly and bring your flashlight! All of our walks are suitable for adults and children ages 7 and up. More details are below and on our website.  Space is limited, so please register early!

Moonlight Walk for Woodcock

Monday, February 20, 2017, 10:00 to 11:30AM

Wildlands Trust Great River Preserve, Bridgewater, MA

Join Manomet and Wildlands Trust staff in enjoying one of the first signs of spring: the epic display of the American Woodcock! Although they are actually shorebirds, woodcocks display in damp fields in the spring before nesting in the woods. The unique springtime display of the woodcock has earned it such colorful nicknames as ‘Labrador twister’ and ‘timberdoodle.’

What is this display like? You’ll just have to come on our walk to find out!

The cost to attend any of these walks is: Adult $15.00 nonmember, $12.00 member (of either Manomet or Wildlands Trust), child $5.00.  For additional information, please contact Evan Dalton at edalton@manomet.org.
