“By continuing to use scientific evidence and data analytics to promote clean energy infrastructure, I want to learn how to effectively bring together diverse communities and stakeholders to create equitable, sustainable, and effective energy networks across the world,” says Max Hayes, an alumnus of our U360 Business Sustainability Internship Program. “I believe that by connecting a wide range of sociocultural bonds, behavioral economic trends, and technological innovations we can overcome the current energy crisis and prevent further environmental injustices.”
To solve the complex challenges we face in the 21st century, college students need to develop vital professional and interpersonal skills—skills they cannot learn in a classroom. Through direct engagement with small business owners nationwide, U360 students learn how to create practical solutions to complex challenges and work collaboratively with those who think differently from how they do. Max Hayes is putting these skills into practice as a young professional working at the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) and through his continued work with the U360 program.
Max is one of the many reasons that Manomet’s second annual “36 Hours for Our Future” fundraising campaign, held the first weekend of March, was a resounding success. This online giving challenge raises funds to support Manomet and important work like our U360 Business Sustainability Internship Program. Manomet’s U360 Program is designed to empower the future generation with the skills to tackle climate change and the related challenges that will disproportionately affect their future. Alumni of the U360 Program collaborate as fundraisers for the “36 Hours for Our Future” campaign; together this year’s fundraisers expanded on last year’s success and set new records for virtual fundraising at Manomet.
