Broadening the pipeline into ornithology careers
The Ornithology Careers Institute (OCI) is a free, intensive, week-long field skills training institute for students and early career professionals from Latin America who are interested in a career in ornithology. Leveraging Manomet’s extensive history of ornithological research and conservation work, OCI participants gain valuable hands-on experience with experts and meet and network with peers and leaders from all over the Americas.

Aumentando el acceso a las carreras de ornitología
El Instituto de Carreras Ornitológicas (OCI por sus siglas en inglés) es un instituto gratuito e intensivo de formación sobre en campo, de una semana de duración, dirigido a estudiantes y profesionales de todo el hemisferio occidental interesados en desarrollar una carrera profesional en el campo de la ornitología. Aprovechando el amplio historial de Manomet en investigación ornitológica y trabajos de conservación, los participantes en el OCI adquieren una valiosa experiencia práctica con expertos y se reúnen y establecen contactos con colegas y líderes de todo el continente americano.

August – Ornithology Careers Institute (OCI)
August 16-23, 2025 (August 16th and 23rd are scheduled travel days)
Join other young professionals for five days of hands-on research techniques, training modules and networking. Participants will meet and work with a wide range of Manomet experts in both shorebird field work and passerine bird banding. Time will include early mornings in the banding lab, shorebird surveys on nearby Cape Cod and other field work, afternoon training exercises, and lectures. Learn from and network with one another and professionals in the field. Participants will receive a certificate of completion indicating the skills acquired over the course of the fellowship.

Agosto – Instituto de Carreras Ornitológicas (OCI)
Fecha: Agosto 16-23, 2025 (días de viaje 16 y 23 de Agosto)
Únase a otros jóvenes profesionales durante cinco días de técnicas prácticas de investigación, módulos de formación y creación de redes. Los participantes conocerán y trabajarán con una amplia gama de expertos de Manomet tanto en el trabajo de campo con aves playeras como en el anillamiento de aves paseriformes. El programa incluirá actividades a primera hora de la mañana en el laboratorio de anillamiento, estudios de aves costeras en el cercano Cabo Cod y otros trabajos de campo, ejercicios de formación por la tarde y conferencias. Aprenderá de los demás participantes y de los profesionales del sector y establecerá contactos con ellos. Los participantes recibirán un certificado que acredite los conocimientos adquiridos durante la pasantía.
