Manomet's Shorebird Team

Get out in the field with Manomet!

Come along with Manomet’s shorebird scientists for a virtual field trip to their favorite ‘local-to-them’ places to go birding. Our scientists live and work all around the Western Hemisphere; on this webinar, you’ll ‘visit’ Nicaragua, Massachusetts, Georgia, California, and Louisiana.  Join us to learn more about the scope of Manomet’s shorebird work, explore unique habitats, and learn more about how shorebirds connect us, even from a distance.

  • California: Monica Iglecia, Assistant Director, Shorebird Habitat Management
  • Georgia: Abby Sterling, Shorebird Biologist, Georgia Bight Shorebird Conservation Initiative
  • Massachusetts: Brad Winn, Director, Shorebird Habitat Management and Lisa Schibley, North American Coordinator for the International Shorebird Survey
  • Nicaragua: Salvadora Morales, Conservation Specialist, WHSRN

This webinar caps off Manomet and WHSRN’s celebration of World Shorebirds Day (September 6) and the Global Shorebird Counts. This annual global celebration of shorebirds raises awareness of the need to protect shorebirds and their habitats and highlights the need for continued shorebird research, monitoring, and conservation.
