Broadening the pipeline into ornithology careers
The Ornithology Careers Institute (OCI) is a free, intensive, week-long field skills training institute for students and early career professionals from all over the western hemisphere who are interested in a career in ornithology. Strong priority given to those from historically excluded communities. Leveraging Manomet’s extensive history of ornithological research and conservation work, OCI participants gain valuable hands-on experience with experts and meet and network with peers and leaders from all over the Americas.
“I believe that the institute is an enormous opportunity for the development of future professionals with a comprehensive vision. Sharing [stories] with the students of the institute reminded me that this is how I began my career in ornithology and the conservation of migratory birds.”
Salvadora Morales, Instructor and Manomet Shrimp and Shorebird Conservation Specialist
